Inspired by the 2000 film, this new musical tells the story of rival cheerleading squads with remarkable athleticism and an original musical score.
Matching feats of athleticism with an all-new score, Bring It On The Musical tells the story of the challenges and unexpected bonds formed through the thrill of extreme competition. Set in the world of high school cheerleading, the story centers on a senior who is set to become the captain of the Truman High School cheerleading squad. When she is forced to transfer schools due to a redistricting scheme, she ends up at rival Jackson High -- a racially diverse school that doesn't even have a cheerleading team.
Inspired by the Bring It On film (2000), this new musical features an original story by Jeff Whitty and an original score by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Kitt, and Amanda Green. The show premiered in a developmental production at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta in early 2011 and launched a 13-city national tour from the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles before opening on Broadway.
