ABOUT THE SHOW
A physician, Dr. Thomas Stockmann (Boyd Gaines), discovers a toxic secret that threatens the health of his entire community. The doctor expects to be hailed as a hero, but his brother, Mayor Peter Stockmann (Richard Thomas), believes the information will destroy the town, forcing the men into a passionate confrontation of political will and personal ethics.

A previous version of An Enemy of the People, adapted by playwright Arthur Miller, played on Broadway in 1950-51.
Some have suggested that Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster film Jaws was inspired, in part, by the Ibsen play, especially in its exploration of what happens when the truth comes up against the will of the majority.
Hendrik Ibsen’s 1882 drama has been seen on Broadway many times since debuting in 1895. This version by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, based on a literal translation by Charlotte Barslund, premiered in London in 2008.
