| History This comedy is based on the 1935 Alfred Hithcock film version of Buchan's novel. The 39 Steps was originally presented on stage by North Country Theatre in 1996 at the Georgian Theatre in North Yorkshire. It played London's West End last year, and subsequently received its American debut at the Huntington Theatre Company in Boston, MA.
