Geoffrey Rush plays a megalomaniacal ruler, King Berenger, whose incompetence has left his country in near ruin. Despite the efforts of Queen Marguerite (Susan Sarandon) and the other members of the court to convince the King he has only 90 minutes left to live, he refuses to relinquish any control.

History
This production of Eugene Ionesco's 1962 absurdist comedy was first produced in Melbourne, Australia in March 2007 prior to its Broadway run. The Broadway premiere of Exit the King, or Le Roi se meurt, took place in 1968 starring Richard Easton and Eva Le Gallienne.
