SUMMARY

Adapted from the Disney film and centuries-old folktales including One Thousand and One Nights, the story of Aladdin is brought to fresh theatrical life in this exuberant new musical comedy. Aladdin’s journey sweeps audiences into an exotic world of daring adventure, classic comedy and timeless romance. This new production features a full score, including the five cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack, as well as more written especially for the stage.

HISTORY

Disney’s animated film Aladdin was released in 1992. A pilot stage production was mounted at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre in 2011. The show’s pre-Broadway engagement opened at the Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto in the fall of 2013.

TRIVIA

  • The animated Aladdin movie was the highest-grossing film 1992.
  • The film won an Academy Award® for Best Original Score. The song “A Whole New World” composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice won an Oscar® as Best Original Song.
