ABOUT THE SHOW

Blackbird tells the story of Una (Michelle Williams) and Ray (Jeff Daniels). Fifteen years earlier they had a relationship, and haven’t set eyes on each other since. Now she’s found him again.

Trivia

  • Mr. Daniels also starred in the play’s 2007 Off Broadway production (opposite Allison Pill). Joe Mantello directed, and returns to stage the play on Broadway.
  • A film version of Blackbird, with a screenplay by Mr. Harrower, is expected to be released in 2016 under the title Una, which is the name of Ms. Williams’s character.

History

Blackbird premiered at the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland in 2005 before moving on to London’s West End the following year. It won the Olivier Award for Best New Play. The drama was subsequently produced Off Broadway by Manhattan Theatre Club in 2007.
