The Story
Described as "a boisterous and uplifting celebration of family values," this Jerry Herman/Harvey Fierstein musical tells the story of Albin and Georges, two middle-aged partners who run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez. Their outrageously resplendent peace turns to mayhem when their son announces that he is getting married-to the daughter of a local morals crusader!

History
La Cage aux Folles is based on the stage comedy of the same title by Jean Poiret. The play became a hit French film in 1978, and was remade in 1996 by Mike Nichols as The Birdcage. The musical debuted on Broadway in 1983, earning six 1984 Tony Awards including Best Musical. It ran for 1761 performances.
