The Story
In this new musical by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin, six young people in the throes of puberty are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, as they compete for first prize in a spelling bee. They learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

History
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee transferred from Off Broadway's Second Stage Theatre. The musical is based on a the play C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E by Rebecca Feldman and her company, The Farm. Spelling Bee was first produced in Massachusetts by Barrington Stage Company in July 2004.
