Dan Fogler, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical

I was gonna dance up here but I got all choked up. I thank the Theatre Wing and the League for the honor, and my mom and dad for their support and DNA. To the other nominees, you guys are superb and the only reason I'm here is because I had a three-year head start, and my education--my representation, my fantastic representation. Everyone from the Theatorium, BSC, Second Stage, to Broadway's Circle in the Square, and all those involved in this dream collaboration--you will be thanked thoroughly on the website! My brilliant ensemble cast of lovely misfits, to the miracle chain: Rebecca, Sarah, Wendy, Bill, James, and Mr. Stone, and I feel like Rocky right now, she's my Adrian - Jodie! We did it ! And we did it with this hair, and in this body. Be brave, be different. I dedicate this award to The Farm and, in the words of Mr. William Morris Barfee, "My whole life I have only been able to breathe through one nostril and today is no exception!" Thank you.

Additional Thanks

To everyone from E. 71st Street between X and Y in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, through Windmill Montessori, Adelphi Academy, Poly Prep, and Boston U--especially my classmates, still some of the most talented folks I've ever worked with--and all the friends and family who have past, and to those that are present, that have contributed to all the wonderful and hysterical experiences that have helped to form my personality over the years. To Eric Loeb who gave me the best advice thus far on my career, "Go play with your friends and make people laugh."

Wayne, David, Brian, Jeremy, and everyone over at the WMA: It was fate, my friends, you guys are a class act...to Amy and Michael, my extremely powerful attorneys.

To BSC and Julie Boyd, Carole Rothman and Second Stage, thank you guys for taking us in from the cold and sheltering us till our legs were sturdy…Michael B. (for "Buffy") & Michael Unger, our two early captains, thanks for taking a turn at the helm, gentlemen. Folks loved those productions, they came from all over to see us...in the dark in the woods!

And the fantastic Mr. Rob Sapp with his fabulously famous "Funny" tape ...

And of course the great Circle in the Square, my first home on Broadway.

The lovely money folks: Jimmy, Barbara, Patrick, and especially David for the vision and the chance…

Rachel for the verbal gems…

Nina Nancy Marcia Seth, thanks for taking care of us; Spook and Kelly, thanks for putting up with us. You guys are awesome. Owen, keep the baked goods coming please.…

The production team: Natasha for the lights, Jenn for the threads, D.M.S. for the sounds, Starobin for the tunes (Rick, Amy, Glenn, Eric, Dennis, James, Susanne, Roger, you guys rock), Knechtges for the moves, Katz for keeping an eye on us, Beowulf for the blue prints...Vadim and Dean for the blood sweat and smiles.…

Wardrobe and the dressers and everyone who keeps the ship tight while we keep things loose..thanks to Bob for holding my satchel when he really didn't have to; Kurt, Joel, and the album crew; and the radio spot crew, Tara Rubin casting….

To the understudies (Kate, Todd, Wills, Lisa), I love ya but I hope you never go on because I love playing with my cast too much….

Llana, across the board an all around great guy; Lisa Howard, the voice and the hugs; D.S. Craig--best bruises I ever got; Mr. Baskin still waters hysterical nicknames; J.T.F., my laugh brother; C. K. B., soul sista co-pilot; Jay Reiss, my Abbot, my partner in crime; Saltzberg, we have fun don't we?! 11 years is our lucky #, let's go another 22!

To Rebecca & Lizzy the brilliant Feldman sisters, remember playing cards in Pittsburgh? Or was it Boston? Either way we laughed.…

To the original cast of C R E P U S C U L E: Martin, Josh, Alice, Katey Lennin, Michelle, Travis, Bjorn/Shaggy, all the random comfort counselors, Brad, Bets, Linds, and everyone who has ever come to "graze" on the Farm.

Again to my mom and dad, who have drenched me in love and support my whole life, I couldn't have done it without you. I thank you, dad, for your logic and mom for your insanity...or is it visa versa?

To my girl, Jodie (who some know as Adriane), I love you so, so, much. My life changed for the better when I met you, darling.

And finally, to all you folks who just didn't get it, who often made my life a living hell throughout the years-- and you know who you are--I forgive you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Aparently angst makes for damned good entertainment.
