Artistic Director Bartlett Sher: Hello everybody. We're really grateful to all of you, and to the American Theatre Wing, the League of American Theatres and Producers, the American Theatre Critics Association, and Visa in particular for their amazing generosity. I am standing here with Laura Penn, who is my artistic partner and Intiman's Managing Director, and we come to you from the far Northwest corner of the world. You know most of where we come from based on rain and business and technology companies and aerospace companies and salmon. But in fact, Intiman is a company which really likes to push its work to the edge and has an old fashioned belief that the work that we do as artists is deeply connected to our communities and that work is also important to what kind of citizens we can become in America. And so, in that purpose we can only really thank the 35 years of artists who have worked with us, but particularly Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas, who are our current artistic associates and many, many, many others. Especially a board who worked with enormous diligence to help us, and a staff who worked liked monks in the middle ages and an audience who have a great sense of adventure on the long strange trip that we are trying to take at Intiman. So we want to thank our families, my wife Kristin and our daughter Lucia, Laura's husband Marty and her kids Alec and Grace, and all the families that give us the courage to push it to the edge a little bit. Thanks very much. | Saluting Regional Theatre
