  • Sunday in the Park with George - Nominees Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell performed the duet "Move On."
  • Xanadu – Cheyenne Jackson, Tony Roberts, nominee Kerry Butler, and the company performed "Don't Walk Away."
  • New Musical Medley:
    • The Little Mermaid's Sierra Boggess took the audience under the sea with "Part of Your World."
    • A Catered Affair - Tony-nominee Faith Prince performed "Vision," joined by members of the company.
    • Young Frankenstein - Megan Mullally, Shuler Hensley, and nominee Christopher Fitzgerald explored "Deep Love."

Other Elements

The cast of The Lion King opened the broadcast with a performance of "Circle of Life" in celebration of the show's 10th-anniversary season on Broadway.

Anthony Rapp introduced the current cast of Rent, who performed "La Vie Bohéme." Members of the original cast joined them on stage to perform "Seasons of Love" in tribute to the show's lengthy run, and the creativity of its late author, Jonathan Larson.

Host Whoopi Goldberg appeared in taped segments from Monty Python's Spamalot, The Phantom of the Opera, and Spring Awakening. She also appeared costumed as Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, and flew in as Mary Poppins.

"Spotlight On" segments featured current Broadway shows including, Chicago, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde, Mamma Mia!, and Avenue Q.

Julie White and Michael Cerveris hosted the presentation of the pre-telecast awards, which took place prior to the CBS broadcast. Webcast exclusively at TonyAwards.com, this portion of the ceremony included 12 competitive awards, as well as the Regional Theatre Tony Award and a Special Tony Award.
