A contemporary new musical that follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth (Idina Menzel), a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in this city of infinite possibilities. When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth’s life splits into two parallel paths. If/Then follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance.


  • In addition to past Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel, the opening night company includes past Tony Award-winner La Chanze, as well as Menzel’s Rent co-star Anthony Rapp.
  • The score of If/Thenis by the Next to Normal team of Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt. Mr. Yorkey also wrote the show’s book.


If/Then comes to Broadway following an out-of-town tryout at the National Theatre in Washington, DC.
