This new musical follows the relationship between playwright J. M. Barrie (Matthew Morrison) and the family that inspired Peter Pan—one of the most beloved stories of all time. Barrie needs a big hit to save his floundering career. He finds the inspiration he's been missing when he meets the beautiful widow Sylvia and her four young sons: Jack, George, Michael and Peter. Delighted by the boys’ hilarious escapades, Barrie conjures the magical world of Neverland and writes a play unlike any the high-society London theatregoers have ever seen. It's a tremendous risk, but as Barrie himself has discovered—when you believe, you can fly.

  • Jennifer Hudson debuted the song “Neverland” from the musical on the 68th annual Tony Awards telecast in 2014.
  • In real life, Scottish author J. M. Barrie (1860—1937) wrote numerous plays and other works, but none is as widely known as Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up, which has been seen many times on Broadway in its original form, as well as in a popular musical version.

Finding Neverland had its world premiere in a pre-Broadway tryout at American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, MA in the summer of 2014. The musical is based on the motion picture of the same title, as well as the play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee.
