Watch a video about The Band's Visit.

An Egyptian police band arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix-up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways.

Eligible Performers in Leading Roles: Katrina Lenk and Tony Shalhoub

  • The on-stage band is made up of cast members, some of whom play traditional Middle Eastern instruments.
  • Composer David Yazbek, who has been previously represented on Broadway with the musicals The Full Monty and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, is of both Jewish and Lebanese ancestry.

The Band’s Visit premiered Off Broadway at the Atlantic Theatre Company in 2016 before transferring to Broadway. The musical is based on Eran Kolirin’s screenplay for the 2007 film of the same title.
