The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on November 9 for the first time this season to decide the eligibility of Broadway productions for the American Theatre Wing's 2018 Tony Awards®, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Committee will meet regularly throughout the 2017-2018 Broadway season to make eligibility determinations.
The Committee confirmed the eligibility status of five Broadway productions for the 2018 Tony Awards. The shows considered are, in opening-night order:
The Terms of My Surrender
Prince of Broadway
Time and the Conways
The Committee announced the following:
Note: Unless the committee has determined otherwise, performers listed ABOVE the title on the show's opening-night Playbill are normally eligible in the Leading Actor/Actress categories. If a performer is listed BELOW the title, he or she is considered a "Featured" performer.
So if you don’t see the name of the performer you are interested in listed above, that generally means you can determine the category in which he or she will be eligible by consulting the show's Playbill (as of the opening night).
The American Theatre Wing’s 72nd Annual Tony Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 10, 2018 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT). Or stream the Tony Awards live across platforms with the CBS All Access subscription service. (Live stream is available in select markets. Visit CBS.com/allaccess for details.) The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
The official eligibility cut-off date will be Thursday, April 26, 2018, for all Broadway productions opening in the 2017-2018 season. Productions that meet all other eligibility requirements and open on or before the eligibility date are considered eligible for 2018 Tony Award nominations.
The Nominations for the 2018 Tony Awards will be announced on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
