Pale (Adam Driver), a dangerously sexy restaurant owner, falls for a dancer named Anna (Keri Russell). Set in downtown New York in the 1980s, the story follows their troubled relationship in the wake of a shared tragedy—the death of Pale’s brother and Anna’s roommate and dance partner. Lanford Wilson’s 1987 drama is “a smoldering story of love and raw attraction by one of the most vital playwrights of the modern era.”

Trivia

Keri Russell makes her Broadway debut with Burn This, but Adam Driver is a Broadway veteran, having appeared in two previous Broadway plays. Rounding out the cast are a pair of past Tony Award-nominees: David Furr (Noises Off) and Brandon Uranowitz (An American in Paris, Falsettos).

Lanford Wilson (1937 – 2011) was one of the most acclaimed playwrights of the late 20th century. Six of his plays (and one Chekhov translation) were staged on Broadway, generating three Best Play nominations.

History

The play debuted Off Broadway at Circle Repertory Company in the winter of 1987 before transferring to Broadway’s Plymouth (now Schoenfeld) Theatre the following October. This is its first Broadway revival.
