Trivia

The 1976 film Network won four Academy Awards, including Best Original Screenplay for its author, Paddy Chayevsky. His grandnephew, Eric Chayevsky, makes his Broadway debut with this production. Chayevsky’s mantra for anchorman Howard Beale, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore,” quickly entered the popular vocabulary.

Under the direction of Ivo Van Hove (The Crucible, A View from the Bridge), this production features a live onstage television studio and an onstage restaurant titled Foodwork, where audience members can enjoy a three-course meal while watching the play.

History

Network made its world premiere at London’s National Theatre in November, 2017 with Bryan Cranston starring as Howard Beale, before transferring to Broadway.
