Trivia
Sarah Bernhardt (1844–1923) was the most famous French actress of her day, as well as an international celebrity and impresario who directed and produced many of her theatrical triumphs. She played the role of Hamlet in 1899 in Paris, and later in London and on Broadway.
Mark Twain wrote, “There are five kinds of actresses: bad actresses, fair actresses, good actresses, great actresses. And then there is Sarah Bernhardt.”
