The American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards® will head uptown for its 70th Anniversary. The 2016 awards ceremony will take place at NYC's Beacon Theatre on June 12.
And you can watch! The CBS Television Network will broadcast the 70th Annual Tony Awards live on on Sunday, June 12, 2016, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. ET (delayed PT). This will mark the 39th consecutive year the Tony Awards show has aired on CBS.
The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
The Tony Awards, which honors theatre professionals for distinguished achievement on Broadway, has been broadcast live from the Beacon Theatre twice before, in 2011 and 2012.
“The Beacon Theatre has been home to two unforgettable Tony Award telecasts, and our team knows exactly how to put on a great show there. We are delighted to bring the Tony Awards back to The Beacon for our 70th Anniversary on June 12th,” said Heather Hitchens, President of the American Theatre Wing, and Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League, in a statement.
The Tony Awards have been held at various venues throughout the years, and tickets go on sale to the public depending on availability. Unfortunately, there will be no public sale for the 2016 Tony Awards.
